Tillamook County has received a federal grant to assist with improved tsunami planning. It involves sophisticated computer mapping to define “inundation zones” and identify optimum evacuation routes and also explores adding new “tsunami zoning” rules for siting new public buildings or large facilities like hotels. The county strongly urges Oceansiders to provide input on the drafted zoning proposals which are included in the county’s “Tsunami Project” memo that can be viewed here.
