The county Public Works Department signs contracts next week for construction of the new Oceanside Beach Path starting later this month and continuing through late November or early December. The ONA initiated this project with overwhelming support from the community, the county and state and local officials! ONA President Jerry Keene will appear at a public hearing before the County Commissioners at the Courthouse at 10 a.m., Wednesday , September 11, 2019 to report on our successful effort to design and muster funding for this project. The design plans for the new path are posted at www.oceansidefriends.org
Our local fundraising effort played a key role in persuading the county to support this project. In addition to those generous folks we’ve already acknowledged, Kathleen Childress, Joanne Jene & Nancy Rangila and Ron & Kathleen Young have made contributions. With your help, the ONA was able to pledge payment for 10% of the $80,000 project, and the county will fund the rest. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who worked to make this possible. We will schedule a “ribbon cutting” event upon completion.
